How does it work?
As a rower, it is hard not to notice the natural curiosity people have for the sport.
Rowers often turn heads and catch many eyes, to the extent that it is not uncommon for people to stop and take photos as we glide past in our boats.
Adfloat uses the naturally attention-grabbing sport of rowing to advertise using custom-made banners bearing your message along Yarra River through the city.
Who is our audience?
The Yarra river is the natural focal point of Melbourne City. Anything new and unusual attracts the attention of everybody on the river bank. Business people, on their way to and from meetings and appointments, will be distracted. Diners will pause from their meals and drinks to satisfy their curiosity. Commuters, on trains or at stations, riding trams, cycling or walking across the bridges, even in cars, will be intrigued. Art lovers on the way to the NGV, the Arts Centre or Hamer Hall, will appreciate the aesthetics as well as the message. Tourists are always on the look out for something new and different, as are the passers by, strolling on the river bank.
How big is our audience?
Melbourne City Council has installed pedestrian sensors that count some of the pedestrians who walk the banks of the river. The average number of people passing these sensors alone, over the course of the year, at the peak weekday times we operate in (see 'services' page for details), is over 9,000 per hour*. There are of course many more people that would not be detected or counted by these sensors, but this data helps give us an idea of just how large our audience is. Adfloat gives you access to these thousands of high-value potential customers in an entirely unparalleled fashion.
